With Kidsit, you can find work in your neighborhood for free.

Matthew James Taylor with a beautiful cat

Hi, I'm Matthew James Taylor, the Founder of Kidsit

I'm a father of three kids in Sydney, Australia. I love kids, animals (especially reptiles), drawing, writing, and building websites — Kidsit is a combination of all these things.

In 2018, I started Kidsit as a babysitting blog and wrote hundreds of articles for babysitters and for parents.

In 2020, I published Babysitting Business Secrets, a book designed to help babysitters set up and run their childcare businesses.

In 2022, I launched our babysitting job marketplace and added pet sitting and dog walking in 2024.

Our marketplace has been a huge success, we now have thousands of members from five countries: The United States, Canada, United Kigdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

Kidsit FAQs

What is Kidsit.com?

Kidsit is a free babysitting and pet-sitting marketplace that connects local parents, pet owners, and sitters. It’s designed to make finding reliable care fast, easy, and affordable.

Who can use Kidsit?

The Kidsit babysitting and pet sitting marketplace is available to anyone 18 years old or older, or to those 16-17 years old who have permission from their parent or guardian to use our site. Members must also live in one of the five countries that we support:

  • The United States
  • Canada
  • The United Kingdom
  • Australia
  • New Zealand

If you live outside of these locations or you are younger than 16 years old, then you can still make use of our helpful babysitting articles for free:

How is Kidsit different from other babysitting and pet sitting websites?

Kidsit is not like other sitting websites; we put our members first and provide the exact features and tools that our members want. Our members love Kidsit!

Kidsit is free

It costs nothing to join Kidsit, and all our members can post a job, create a sitter profile, and send unlimited messages to other members. You can find local work (or find a service provider) without paying a cent.

Immediate access

It only takes one minute to post a job or create a profile.

We don't have a complicated or lengthy registration process; all you need is an email address to get started.

You don't even need to create an account first; you can post a job, create a profile, or start contacting members immediately, and your account will be created automatically.

No commission

All payments are direct between sitters and families; there is no commission and no fees. You can charge whatever you like for your services, and you keep 100% of your income.

Members are under no obligation to accept jobs that don't meet their preferred pay rate or conditions.

Non-exclusive

Unlike many sitting websites, we don't lock our members into exclusively using our services. With Kidsit, you are free to use other sites in combination with ours to broaden your job opportunities.

Many sitting websites restrict you from sharing contact details with other members and from working directly outside of their platform, they do this so they can take a cut of all of your earnings. Their terms of service legally force you into using their platform forever. Don't fall into this trap!

With Kidsit, you are free to contact and work directly with any people you meet through our platform.

Membership & accounts

Do I have to pay to join?

No. Kidsit is 100% free to join and use for both families and sitters.

Kidsit has a paid Pro Membership plan, which offers additional perks for professional users, but this is completely optional. You don't need a Pro Membership to use the website.

How do I create an account?

All you need is an email address to join. Simply login with your email to create your account, or start using the site immediately, and your account will be created automatically when you post a job, create a profile, or send a message to a member.

Is there a verification process?

All jobs, profiles, and user-generated content pass through our moderation process to appear on the website, all members have a verified email address, and Pro Members can verify their government-issued ID for an added level of trust.

Using our marketplace

How do I find a babysitter or pet sitter?

Use our babysitter search or pet sitter search to find local sitters to contact for free, or post a job to alert matching sitters in your area, and they can contact you.

Members with an active job will receive email alerts of new local babysitters that match their job requirements.

How do I find a job?

Use our babysitting job search or pet job search to find local jobs to apply for, or create a free sitter profile, and families looking to hire a service provider can contact you directly. Your Kidsit sitter profile will do the hard work for you, advertising your services 24/7!

Members with an active sitter profile will receive email alerts of new local jobs that match their offered services.

Safety

Is Kidsit safe to use?

Absolutely. We encourage all members to use our secure message system to keep you safe and to avoid sharing personal information and contact details before you're ready to meet and start a job.

How do I know a sitter is trustworthy?

All sitter profiles have a verified email address and go through our moderation process to appear on the website.

Pro Members can also have a verified government-issued photo ID for an added level of trust.

As a free website, we recommend that all members vet the people they plan to work with before starting any job. We have guides to help with this:

Rates & payments

How are service rates set?

Sitters can list their preferred service rate on their profile, and families can set an offered rate on their posted job. The exact rate for a job is negotiated between the sitter and the family.

We advise all members to agree on a fair rate before commencement of a job.

Kidsit publishes average pay rates for each service and location as a guide to help members set a fair rate for both parties. Search for a service in your location to see the rates in that area.

How are payments handled?

Families and sitters arrange payments directly (cash, bank transfer, or preferred method). Kidsit does not take a cut or charge fees.
