Hello!
I am a twin sister and I have twin brothers whom my sister and I cared for since their birth during our primary school years. I have watched my brothers, who are about ten years younger than me, grow and develop, physically, cognitively, and socioemotionally, and because I studied Child Development in high school and now Human Lifespan Development as a college student, I believe that my passion for children, as well as my experience being an older sister of twin boys from the age of 9 years old, makes me a great candidate to offer my skills of providing physical and psychological care to young children.
I consistently joined my stepmother at her moms' groups, where I would babysit the young children including my brothers, and it was truly a joy for me to spend quality time with the children while their mothers were at their classes.
Safety is a priority in my life. As the president of the American Red Cross Club during my years in high school, I helped students learn about the history and life-saving work of the American Red Cross and the International Red Cross. Students were able to obtain CPR training, receiving certification upon completion, and school staff were able to renew their certification. I invited guest speakers and personally gave presentations to teach students about topics including first aid, emergency and disaster preparedness, and most notably, the positive impact that generous blood donations have in saving people’s lives.
Finally, my experience as a child and my education in school about bullying and abuse has helped me identify it within my own home, which ultimately led my sister and I to report it during our second year of high school, which was after so many years during which I was taught that it was just a normal part of childhood; I now understand that it was not, and am very vigilant about any kind of mistreatment toward anyone of any age and whether in public or in private.
