Top 10 Tips For Hiring A Valentine's Day Babysitter

Follow these handy tips for hiring a Valentine's Day babysitter so you can enjoy a romantic evening while knowing your kids are in safe hands.

1. Book early

Valentine’s Day is a high-demand night for babysitters, so secure someone well in advance.

2. Expect holiday rates

Babysitters often charge extra for special occasions, so budget for a premium.

3. Choose someone trusted

Go with a sitter your kids already know, or someone with strong references if it’s their first time.

4. Confirm late-night availability

Make sure the sitter is comfortable staying until your return, even if it’s late.

5. Share bedtime routines

Provide clear instructions for dinner, storytime, and bedtime so the evening runs smoothly.

6. Leave fun activities

Stock up on games, crafts, or a movie to keep the kids entertained while you’re out.

7. Plan a simple dinner for kids

Prepare or order something easy the babysitter can serve without stress.

8. Leave emergency contacts

Give them your number, backup contacts, and any medical details they might need.

9. Set house rules

Be clear on snacks, screen time, and bedtime flexibility.

10. Show appreciation

Since they’re working on a date night, consider a bonus, chocolates, or a thank-you note.
