Hi! My name is Anaiah, and I’m a high school student with a passion for working with children, especially children with disabilities. My goal is to build a career supporting children and families, and I’m looking for opportunities to continue gaining experience while making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Over the past year, I have been intentionally preparing for a career working with children. I meet three evenings each week with a special education teacher who mentors me and helps me develop employment skills, communication skills, and strategies for supporting children with a variety of needs.
I currently serve as a peer mentor at my high school, where I enjoy encouraging and supporting other students. I have also spent the past year as a paraprofessional-in-training at a local middle school twice each week, assisting in the classroom, supporting students, and learning from experienced special education professionals.
In addition, I currently work as a companion for a child with intellectual and physical disabilities. I enjoy spending time together through play, conversation, activities, and encouragement while helping the child feel included, engaged, and supported.
My passion for working with children with disabilities comes from personal experiences and the meaningful relationships I have built through school and my community. Those experiences have shown me how important patience, kindness, encouragement, and inclusion are, and they have inspired me to pursue this career.
Families describe me as patient, dependable, friendly, and easy to connect with. I love helping children build confidence, have fun, feel included, and discover their strengths. I enjoy playing games, reading stories, doing crafts, helping with homework, and finding activities that match each child’s interests and abilities.
I am interested in opportunities as a mother’s helper, companion for a child with disabilities, childcare assistant, classroom helper, paraprofessional, or after-school program assistant. I am excited to continue learning while providing caring, dependable support to children and their families.
My skills and interests:
- Games
